Macros? Why are we counting them?

Macros are a shortened form of macronutrients.  What does that mean?

You eat macronutrients every day.  You find macros in bread, rice, pasta, beans, meat, tomatoes, apples, grapes, peanuts, chicken, etc.  Every meal you eat at home or at a restaurant has them.

There are three macronutrients that people are concerned about:

  • Carbohydrate-bread rice, pasta, protein
  • Protein-beans, chicken, fish, meat
  • Fat-oil, butter
  • Water

We need each of these every day to fuel, heal, and nourish our bodies.  It is important that we get the right amounts of each.  The amount of each macronutrient depends on the person. is a great resource if you are interested in learning how to eat well for your body.  If you have any questions, please message me below!
