Macros are a shortened form of macronutrients. What does that mean?
You eat macronutrients every day. You find macros in bread, rice, pasta, beans, meat, tomatoes, apples, grapes, peanuts, chicken, etc. Every meal you eat at home or at a restaurant has them.
There are three macronutrients that people are concerned about:
- Carbohydrate-bread rice, pasta, protein
- Protein-beans, chicken, fish, meat
- Fat-oil, butter
We need each of these every day to fuel, heal, and nourish our bodies. It is important that we get the right amounts of each. The amount of each macronutrient depends on the person.
